Lovely location in Yuma to go for a walk. I left the main park to walk my dog near the river and read the placards that educate about the development and conservation of the region. I brought my dog and found that the area was dog friendly, and I enjoyed seeing the water foul. Plenty of parking.

Yesterday was my 1st time in wetlands Park, it was so beautiful, my nephew and little cousin were running around for hours.

There is no hand soap in the restrooms, and they also need more maintenance. Additionally, there are many bats in the lake areaβ€”that is the only thing worth noting; everything else was excellent.

The Yuma West Wetlands has easy to walk trails along the Colorado River. There is a small pond for fishing, and a sidewalk around it. Some covered picnic areas, and a fancy children's play area, including a small zipline for the kids to play on. I prefer the West Wetlands over the East Wetlands as it has more visitors, and doesn't feel as remote and closed-in as the East Wetlands. Could be better: The Restrooms - No soap or hand dryers. Although you're walking next to the Colorado River for part of the trail, you can only view it in limited spots as there is so much growth next to the river. A little more trail signage might be helpful. You don't know ahead of time how long a particular section or loop is, although none of the trails are that long.

West Wetlands Park is one of Yuma’s treasures, a wide stretch of green space that feels like a blessing in the desert. Set along the Colorado River, it brings together trails, ponds, and playgrounds in a way that makes it perfect for families, couples, or anyone just wanting a quiet walk under open skies. The pond at the center is alive with ducks and birds, and it’s a peaceful place to sit and watch the water. Trails wind through the park, some shaded by trees, others opening up to river views that remind you of just how much life the water gives to this part of Arizona. Kids have plenty of room to run, from the castle-style playground to open fields, and the butterfly and hummingbird garden adds a touch of beauty that makes the park even more unique. What makes West Wetlands Park special is how it balances activity and rest. You can spend the day picnicking, fishing, or flying a kite, or you can simply find a bench and let the sound of the river calm your spirit. It’s a place that invites you to breathe, slow down, and appreciate Yuma in a deeper way. Grateful Traveler’s Note
